+ chuppahs & mechitzas
Having worked closely with the Canadian Jewish Community for more than a decade Jeffery Crawford Creative Event Drapery is experienced with Jewish wedding traditions and customs. We have designed and decorated hundreds of custom chuppahs and mehtizas over the years ranging from the ultra-traditional to the modernist avant-garde installation.
Our approach to chuppah and mehitza design is to understand the traditions and the style of each individual client then utilize a variety of textiles from soft sheer-voile, velour, satin, metallic as well as other types of textiles that represent the unique personality of the couple. Sometimes this means incorporating a tallit or another special element from the family such as a quilt, a special embroidered gift or a century old piece of lace passed through the generations.
We also incorporate other materials into our chuppah & mehitza designs such as fresh greens like salal leaves or boxwood, flowers, wood such as barn wood or branches, moulded foam, crown mouldings and valances, metal, mirror and lighting fixtures such as chandeliers, twinkle lights or suspended candle vessels.
